Description
A fantastic, original pair of Prohibition Prescriptions for Medicinal Liquor!
The physician typically wrote this Rx for Whiskey or Spirits Frumenti! The patient took both the top, "Original" and bottom, "Duplicate" to the pharmacist to fill. The pharmacist kept the pink, duplicate Rx, as a permanent record... "Must be retained by the druggist, open to inspection by Federal Officers", and then sent the original prescription to the government, "before the TENTH day of the ensuing month".
The prescriptions were issued by the Treasury Department and are printed on fancy, beautiful paper that was also used for U.S. currency. In the center is the old Treasury Seal with the Latin inscription, "Thesaur. Amer. Septent. Sigil.". When you hold the prescriptions up to the light "INDUSTRIAL ALCOHOL" is written, as with the metal strips that are used in U.S. bills today, the graphics are GREAT! Each prescription measures 8.5" x 4.5" and is in mint condition!
These are wonderful pieces of history and would be great to display in a pharmacy, wine cellar, kitchen, bar or office! I am happy to answer any questions you may have, please feel free to email, thanks!
Pleased to combine shipping with other Prohibition Prescriptions, Liquor Licenses, Opium Forms & Pharmacy Labels. As always, many thanks to my regular customers for your continued patronage!
