In 1945 Brooklyn, New York Electronics Instrument Company (EICO) opened shop selling hi-quality electrical test equipment in kit and assembled form. Five years later they introduced a line of audio components that helped to cultivate the hi-fidelity craze of that era. For many people Eico components were their first taste of hi-fi. Because these components were available in kit form as well as assembled, a significant savings, not to mention a tremendous learning experience, could be had. For the first time the average working class individual could have a system rivaling that of the upper-class. Today, the famed McIntosh & Marantz components from yesteryear are still out of reach for most, although Eico components are still relativity affordable and still represent one of the greatest values in the marketplace. The Eico HF-20 is a perfect example of the tremendous Eico value.
The HF-20 is extraordinarily well designed integrated mono tube amplifier. It employs an output transformer capable of handling far in excess of its 20 watts rated power. It features a push-pull Williamson amplifier circuit, which maximizes the sonic potential of the famed 6L6 output tubes. Sonically few amps approach its level of performance, it reproduces music with tremendous accuracy and a seemingly magical midrange. It is every bit as good as many of the famed McIntosh & Marantz components of the same era.

Condition:
Amplifier has been in storage for many years. It is missing the two 12AX7 tubes. When I last used it many years ago I remember two of the resistors failed. I believe you will need to replace some of the component such as resistors and possibly some capacitors (1 of the can capacitors was already replaced). This is a great sounding amp once it is brought back up to speed. Please only bid if you feel confident you can work on these things. Cosmetically it is very clean with only minor signs of use.
This is a No Reserve Auction so it will go to the highest bidder.
