CONDITION: At the bottom a hole - drilled for mounting as a lamp - has been filled with composition material. Otherwise pristine condition with minor abrasions to the paintwork. This truly beautiful Famille Rose porcelain vase features rich floral decors, hand painted in multicolored enamels partly showing high relief and intriguing crazing.

This gourd shaped vase is allover adorned with mesmerizing peonies, cherry blossom trees and other Chinese plants. The lower rim is painted to resemble a meadow.

The dense and elegant design characterizes this excellent piece as a highly collectible work of Chinese art. An exquisite and beautiful example of traditional 19th century Famille-Rose porcelain!

Famille-rose enamels were first introduced around 1720 for use on porcelain and the majority are opaque or semi-opaque. The palette originally takes its name from the rose-colored enamel, which derives its colour from colloidal gold. Other significant colours in this palette are iron red, blue, green, yellow and white.
