DESCRIPTION: This is a superb quality Antique Japanese box that has been expertly crafted with the finest of detail by a master artist.It is lacquer with a profusion of mother of pearl inlay decoration and gold flecks.It features underwater scenes and it is beautiful.The inside compartments are lacquered and has gold flecks.The bottom of the compartments are also done in the same manner.Please take the time to take in the beauty of this piece and the fine,highly detailed inlay work.It would be hard to find a better example of this skilled Japanese craft.This piece would date from around 1900.
CONDITION:these boxes are fragile.There is some lacquer missing off on side [see pics].There are a couple of minor chips on the box and the handles.These ere to be expected and do not effect the beauty or value of this piece.
