Vintage brass compass, in bracket. This compass is from a ship that wrecked at Point Pleasant, New Jersey in 1937. I don't know the name of the ship. The compass is marked "Star Boston, U.S.A." and "12772". It is also marked "Star Boston" on the dial. The compass has a diameter of 5 1/8" and the bracket is about 6 1/8" across. The bottom of the compass is indented and there is one shallow chip at the edge of the glass. There is also silt inside the compass. Despite its rough history, this compass is still in working order, a testament to its solid construction.
