Nippon Bowl Persian Islamic Middle Eastern Persian Pottery
RARE. 19th century.

OH: 3-3/8”, OD: 8-5/8” (rim), OD: 4” (footed base)
Description:
Round bowl on a round, footed base with cobalt decoration in the Persian/Islamic/Middle Eastern style over a taupe glaze over a creamy white base glaze over what appears to be terra cotta. There is a band of blue green and one of rose encircling the base of the bowl and most of the foot. The rose and blue bands are on the upper rim of the bowl. The interior is undecorated save the taupe over white glaze. The outer main body is decorated with a wide band of scrolling flowers and acanthus-like palms. We have been informed by the Conservator of Japanese Art at the museum, that this is a master work.
Condition:
Overall light crazing. No damage noted. Overall, EXCELLENT CONDITION.
