Beautiful world map, with spectacular decorations, published by Pieter van der Aa  in Leiden, 1703. The map is based on Arnold Colom's map from the first world maritime atlas. The engravings surround the map shows the god Apollo and his sister Diana (representing day and night) and the four female figures representing Fire, Air, Earth and Water. California is shown as an Island and the Great Lakes are not shown. Australia and the western coast of New Zealand are partially mapped.

Some minor stains and tears in the margins, outside of the image, otherwise very good condition.

Size  16.54X13.78 inches (42 cmX35cm)
