LARGE Antique English Oak Barley Twist Cane Bench Seat

Direct from England, this listing is for a wonderful English oak bench…..PERFECT for the end of a bed or a dressing area or fireside………perhaps in a study or below a dormer window….obviously I love this piece and can easily think of a million different places to enjoy it!!
The bench is solid oak, with a rich DARK FINISH that everybody wants today, and it beautifully compliments the cane seat and sides. There’s no “back side” as all four legs are barley twist, and the upper post are barley twist as well!! The “H” stretcher bar provides extra stability for the bench, and it is Victorian style “bobbin” turned…………making this a spectacular piece from all sides!!!
Measurements:
32 ½”H x 29 ¼” x 15 ¼”;
18” floor to top of seat area;
29” x 15” seat size;
27” x 13” area of caned seat.
All of my antiques are hand selected from European container shipments. I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase the items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality.
Condition:
The bench is in good condition, structurally sound and visually appealing, with only normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. The cane is in VERY good condition, with only one small break (see photo). It looks like something that just happened and nothing is unraveled, so the seat is strong and secure and ready for many years of use!!!!!!!!! During the photos, when I turned the bench upside down, I noticed a little metal “L” reinforcement under one of the corners…something that was added during the years and not a material issue, just listed here for disclosure purposes!!
