For auction we have here a perfectly kept c1940 Indian ivory carving of Lord Ganesha. This wonderful carved ivory figure was produced in India around the first half of the c1900s for the trade market. Lord Ganesha is the oldest son of Lord Shiva and stands for power of the supreme which removes obsticles and insures success in human endeavors as well as being the Hindu God of wisdom and knowledge. Hindus for this reason worshiped Lord Ganesha first before beginning any religous, spiritual or worldly activity. The detailed carving is just superb with excellent fine hand carving to all areas. This is a heavy chunky solid piece of ivory showing prominent graining with excellent color tone and polished finish. The bottom section with the mouse and continuous leaf carving, garment folds, eyes and headdress are some of the fabulous details with the reverse side of the headdress being incredibly good as well. He has (4) arms which hold a rope, axe, sweet desert ball and necklace. This is the best rendition of this figure that I have seen in some time with the condition being absolutely perfect with no faults what so ever. Height 5" x Width 3" x Depth 2-3/4". This is one of the (4) Indian ivories I am offering this week for auction and all are quite special in thier own accord, so bid all you can as you will be very proud to own and display this investment quality antique ivory carving.

NOTE: Over the past 23 years I have been buying, selling and collecting Asian art and other high quality antiques and collectables. My main emphasis has been working with dealers, designers as well as a core group of serious collectors. About five years ago I decided to start offering some great items from the "Old China Trade" as well as good Japanese 18thc & 19thc antiques on ebay for auction. Not every item I offer will be from these two groups however I will only offer high quality pieces that will continually rise in value through the years to come while giving much enjoyment and satisfaction that other investments cannot provide. Good antiques definately deserve a place in ones financial portfolio. ***Please contact me with any questions, all questions will be answered within 24 hours. ***Ebay is soon going to only allow online payments so contact me if you need another method of payment. Insurance is optional but highly reccomended, totals will be figured at auctions end.
