Up for auction is a schwinn Panther. Serial number C3#### which I believe is from 1953 maybe 1952. The bike has original paint and original parts. No reproduction parts. This bike is very impressive. I upgraded a few parts like the seat(restored original) Red script grips, and original deluxe AS pedals (real deal nos not repops). The pedals and seat alone are worth $$$. The paint is very glossy with some scratches But overall excellent. the red pigments have faded out a bit but the paint is not oxidized. some of the black bleeds though the red and the white pinstriping is faded around the edges. Inside tank and light are clean no battery leaks or rust. Has a nice set of schwinn double knurled stamped s 2 26" rims, USA made typhoon cord WW tires, new departure rear hub, schwinn script front hub. Rims were relaced at some point with stainless spokes but they are true and tight, no wobbles dents or rust. chrome is excellent looking with some dull spots tiny peppering here and there. Frame and forks are straight rides hands free. Key does not work(has schwinn yale key). Fenders are original triple thick chrome with nickle plated braces and factory rivets holding them to the fenders. A small chip on the tip of the front fender some peeling from the lower tip and small scratches but otherwise a nice set of fenders. Most panthers are lacking nice original fenders. These are shiny and 3 1/2" wide. This bike needs nothing and displays awesome. Stored indoors always and rarely ridden. Would make an awesome Christmas gift.
Shipping: Local pick up OK. If you want it shipped I need to charge $40 for quality packing materials plus the actual costs of UPS. The bike will be shipped in 3 boxes and packed tight after careful disassembly. Shrinkwrap, minimal disassembly and styrofoam shims will be used in 2 bicycle boxes and one large regular box. You can send me your own UPS, FED EX labels if you prefer other wise I will charge actual when I bring the boxes to the UPS hub by my house. I already know the dimensions of the boxes it will be shipped. I will also toss out that I could provide numbers to local bike shops if you prefer it packed by a shop. Winning bidder will have to work it out with them. I will revise shipping costs from $150 when I send an invoice to winning bidder depending on what method they want to take bike.
