You are bidding on a fairly lightly formerly enjoyed Sixten Ivarsson straight grain bent "Acorn" shaped pipe that was carved by the undisputed master and original Danish freehand pipe carver, Mr. Sixten Ivarsson, in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1965. As most of you know, Sixten's freehand shapes are his most desirable. This pipe is stamped "An Ivarsson Product" in a circle, with 1965 in the center of the circle, and a sun stamping under the date.
The Sixten Ivarsson free hand pipes are rather rare, so this is an opportunity for the advanced pipe collector! If you are serious about collecting ultra high grade pipes, you absolutely must have an Ivarsson pipe in your collection. Having collected Sixten’s pipes myself, I can’t even begin to tell you about the feeling of pride of ownership, and knowing that you own a pipe that was carved by a legend, perhaps, THE MOST LEGENDARY PIPE CARVER WHO EVER LIVED! Sixten was the carver who blazed the trail for every pipe carver to come out of Denmark! Sixten was the front runner and the originator of organically shaped pipes – that is letting the flow of the grain determining the shape of the bowl, rather than forcing the grain to conform to a specific shape. Sixten was the first pipe carver to use other materials, such as bamboo, horn, or ivory, all of them from nature, in the adornment of his pipes. This pipe possesses a gorgeous hand cut horn ferule.
Mr. Ivarsson carved less than 100 pipes per year from about 1948 until the late 1990’s. He passed away in 2000. There are no more of these masterpieces that will ever be carved by the extremely talented and legendary master Danish freehand carver. To find a Sixten Ivarsson pipe on the market is a true rare find. In our small pipe collecting community, this is like the equivalent of a Van Gogh oil painting coming to market! Please do not miss this rare and exciting opportunity!
I have thoroughly and carefully cleaned, polished, sanitized, and restored this awesome pipe both inside and out. The original hand cut vulcanite stem is free of any tooth marks, scratches, or oxidation. Please take note that this stem material that was employed by Sixten in the 1960's was the best vulcanite that I have ever experienced. It shines like acrylic, yet it is very comfortable in the mouth. The bowl is very clean and crisp. The entire pipe shines like glass! The brown leather pipe bag that is pictured with this pipe is included.
Here are the dimensions of this wonderful pipe. Please note that it is small in size.: The overall length is about 5.25. The bowl height is about 1.40”. The tobacco chamber is about 0.675” in diameter and tapers down the bowl’s 1.125” inner depth. Capacity is similar to that of a Dunhill Group 1 to 2 size pipe. This pipe weighs only 22 grams.
Once again, I cannot begin to express you the pride of ownership that will come with this fantastic pipe! If you are interested, it is worth the sacrifice of doing without, perhaps five average pipes, in order to own an exceptional one like this! This is an investment in pride and pleasure for a lifetime – not just “another pipe!”
I am running this as a “Private Auction” so that you can bid on this pipe without worrying about stepping over your fellow pipe collector friend’s bid, as well as keeping the winning bidder’s name private. This special pipe deserves some discretion. I know that there will be some serious interest in this Sixten Ivarsson pipe! If requested, I will send an e-mail to the winning bidder, showing all of the bidding action at the close of this auction. I want you to bid with the highest of confidence and know that the winning bidder will get to see the list of the other bidders.
Once again, this is a TEN day no reserve pipe auction. I do not believe in "Reserve" or "Buy it Now" prices. I want the lucky high bidder to own and enjoy this pipe and not have him frustrate himself with bidding on a pipe that is not attainable on a price basis! Just be the high bidder at the close of this auction, and you will win what could again prove to be the best pipe in your collection!
