This auction is for a fantastic antique bisque head doll riding a beautiful dapple grey horse. This piece is all original and such a rare find. It is from the Crist estate of Frostburg, Maryland that was sold about 10 years ago. Item measures 13" tall from tip of hat to floor and 9" long from tip of horses nose to tail. Horse is covered in a felt type material with a grey spotted design on body. He has a felt orange saddle and leather bridle and reigns. The horse is in excellent condition. The reigns have some age damage to leather and some breaks in leather and are not connected to bridle and one side is no longer glued to one hand. The doll has a lovely bisque head that is marked with S then a star with a PB inside then an H. This is the mark of Schoneau Hoffmeister. Bisque head has been checked for damage or repaint with a blacklight. There is a red firning line that runs from corner of one eyebrow down about 1/2". This is a faint red mark in the bisque that was caused by the firing process. There is also a small black mispainted spot on one of the left eye eyelashes. (see close up photo) Lovely original glass eyes with painted upper and lower lashes and sweet open mouth with row of teeth. Multi stroke feathered brows. Original blonde mohair curly wig. Wooden lower arms and hands and wooden lower legs and feet. Wire armiture upper arms and upper legs. Doll is wearing lovely original pink and blue outfit with lace trims. Original felt hat with ribbon tirms. Doll and horse are in excellent condition with just some shelf dust and minimal age wear. This is such a wonderful and hard to find item.
