This is a very large set of beautiful vintage or antique ART DECO silver plate (silverplate?) flatware - 146 matching pieces in all! - including the beautiful, very dark wood (looks like mahogany), velvet-lined, tarnish-reducing, two-tiered storage chest.  There's full service for 17+ here, including many many extras and more than a few serving pieces. There's even a set of 41 teaspoons alone!

The pattern is called ENCORE.  It was manufactured by SIMEON L. & GEORGE H. ROGERS COMPANY - X/TRA - ONEIDA, LTD.  and it dates back to 1934.  There are no monograms on any of the pieces.

And best of all - the set is in excellent to fine condition, with NO silver loss, NO worn spots, NO pitting, NO dark spots, and absolutely NO heel marks - which is remarkable for such an old set of silver.  There's only gentle wear, and some pieces appear to have little (or no) wear at all!

Here's the pieces to this set:

Silverware Piece
#
Size
Dinner knives (hollow handles & stainless steel blades) 2 9"
Dinner knives (solid handles & stainless steel blades) 10 8¾"
Dinner knives (solid handles & stainless steel blades) - in a slightly different blade design 6 8"
Master butter knives 4 7"
Teaspoons 41 6"
Tablespoons (oval bowls) 23 7"
Gumbo/soup spoons (round bowls) 12 7"
Sugar spoons 2 5"
Large casserole serving spoons 6 7"
Very large serving spoons 2 8¼"
Soup or sauce ladle 1 6"
Dinner forks 18 7"
Salad/dessert/pastry forks 17 6¼"
Buffet or cold meat serving forks 2 8¼"

This is a relatively heavy, very substantial set of silver - not at ALL flimsy.  And, the silver is in beautiful shape and shines brilliantly.  The pattern is really lovely, with an authentic ART DECO raised and beaded pattern, sort of a floral design with geometric overtones (see photos below).  It is very indicative of it's time.

The set also includes the all-wood, hand-made, blue velvet-lined, tarnish-resisting, two-tiered storage chest - which is in very good condition although with some minor scratches and nicks on top.  The chest is made of some very dark wood (looks like mahogany) and features very thick wood throughout.  The chest does not have a pull-out drawer, but instead, just raises the top layer of flatware on a (sort of) steel pully (see last photo below).  The inside also is very nice and has done a good job of keeping the silver shiny.

This is a very lovely and unusual silver pattern, and about as ART DECO as you can get!!  The antique silver shine on this is awesome.

NOTE:  The lines and dark spots on the flatware are actually NOT on the flatware.  What you're seeing is the reflection of a telephone pole wire high above my patio, as well as shadows of trees and windows and houses from the late afternoon Michigan sun.
