GEORGIAN TRAVELLING LOCK DOWN SILVER INKWELL ARMORIAL

This is for a nice old Georgian travelling lock down inkwell. Its a nice inkwell with a detailed family crest on the lid that show grapes being cut from the vine so we can presume that the original owner of this fine inkwell either owned vineyards or had some connection to the wine trade. The inkwell was made in 1830 and features the classic screw down key-catch on the front which kept the inkwell fully sealed whilst in transit. It has a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks which date it to London 1830 along with the makers mark A.D for Archibald Douglass. The inkwell is in excellent condition with no damage, the glass has no cracks or chips to it and the silver has no dents or wear, there are a couple of tiny little dints and marks here and there from over the years but nothing at all to detract.
