Ok lamp collectors- Here is a beauty! What I have here is an absolutely killer old antique slag glass or stained glass lamp shade that is fantastic! This is an 8 sided, 16 panel glass shade that is for I believe a desk or table lamp. There is no makers mark on it, and I could not find one just like it in the book, but it would be very typical to find this on a 1900s or teens Handel or Miller style lamp. Really awesome one that is sure to grace your finest piece. This is pretty darn heavy at about 8 pounds in weight. It is a gold finish over a heavy cast metal ( I think it is lead...) I have done absolutely nothing to this since i acquired it- I didnt want to damage anything such as the original patina that is there or break anything- I didnt even clean or dust it at all- There is still dust in the little crevases. I did however find one little part of the filagree work that has seperated, and it is in one of the pictures. It fits together very nicely, and it could easily be fixed ( although it is almost completely unnoticable ) Also- One of the larger panes has been fixed somehow ( small corner - about an inch ) probably glue, and actually looks fine, but I did notice this, so I had to mention these things. It appears that whoever did this, was actually going to swap out that piece with another pane ( you can see it in a photo as well ) but didnt- and so the extra unbroken pane of glass is included in the auction in case you would like to switch them. One of the tabs is also missing that holds the glass, ( in pic as well ) and there is a little piece of tape holding them together right there. They do not fall out or anything. This tab could be replaced as well, but the shade is basically ready to install on a lamp. The dimentions of this shade are as follows- From one point to the opposite point it is @ 18 inches across. When sitting on a flat surface, it is 7 1/2 inches from the table underneath to the heat cap ring opening. The Heat cap opening is @ 3 3/8 inches. If you would like any more info on this, please feel free to ask any questions you might have. I have put on a lot of good photos for you to see the wonderful original condition of this. This is really a great find, and definately will be great on your old table lamp for sure. Do not miss this one for sure!!
