Buck’s Junior 4 Cast Iron Salesman Sample or Childs Stove Produced by Buck’s Stove & Range Co. of St. Louis, Missouri 1910-20s Great condition ~ 22” x 11” x 16”
These wonderful small stoves were originally produced as Salesman Samples or Counter displays. The stove has the working parts and designed the same as a full size stove. This size of cast iron stove would have been rather heavy for salesmen to haul about, so they quickly became a favorite for little girls to learn and imitate their mothers. ******************************** This Junior 4 stove was owned by a lady 89 years young. She has had it since she was a small child. She is moving into a new home and can not take it with her. The family would be honored to have the little stove go to a new home also. One to cherish the memories and history of this great piece. ******************************* This Buck’s Stove is marked in several different places. Your will see the Buck’s Stove & Range with the Deer on the front of the larger oven door. The 2 smaller doors are marked on the inside. They both have Junior 3 on them. I have not been able to find a Junior 3 Buck’s Stove and information on a 3. I know the Junior 2 was produced in the early 1900-10. The Junior 4 started around 1920. So perhaps this is one of the earliest Junior 4 samples they made and used the Junior 3 parts. If you have any information on a Junior 3, I would be honored to hear from you and share it with others. The black cast iron stove is marked on the top, Buck's ~ Junior 4. The silver metal shelf and pipe cover are marked on the back, Junior 4. The front decorative bar is removable and marked Junior 4. Inside are 2 removable grates. There are 6 round removable covers on the top and the left side center piece can be removed for a large water tub or pot. Beneath the oven door is the silver ledge, also removable. The stove is set on the black and silver footed base frame. The frame is marked Junior 4. The entire set measures 16 ½” long and 11” wide. It is 22 ½” tall, from the floor to the shelf top. Unpacked the unit weighs 24 pounds. ***************************** This wonderful sample stove has been treated as royality and is in great condition. You will find very little paint loss or iron rust. With a pipe vent, I think it would still cook safely. I have found a couple things, not quite original. The large oven door has newer eye bolts and a couple of the screws appear newer, on the base frame. Even with these minor things, you will be hard pressed to find a nicer Buck's ~ Junior 4 sample Stove. ********************************

I have received several questions, wondering if the little stove has been restored or painted. I do not think it has been. Please note the pitting on the nickel plated door top. There are a few on the other nickel plated areas. ***************** Thank you for asking and allowing me add another picture! If I receive new or more information, I will try to keep you all posted. On Nov-17-08 at 17:42:00 PST, seller added the following information: As promised, I am keeping you all up to date. I have spoken again to the daughter. This little Junior 4 stove is original and has only been in her Mother's possession only. It has had newer bolts and nuts on the frame, to keep it sturdy. Her father passed away in 1974 and he would have been the one that replaced the bolts. She is sure he would not have done more or her mother would have been upset. This Buck's Junior 4 is truly a well kept piece of history! Thank you for allowing time, for me to find out more!
