OFFERING: A pair (2) lemon yellow, 100% all original (except bolts...somehow, I lost those) vintage MAX chairs designed by the great Charles Eames, manufactured by Herman Miller, Zeeland Michigan, but shipped from Venice, California in the 1950s (probably sometime between 1954 and 1959, as they were in production for a very short time before being discontinued). Again, distributed by Herman Miller, Venice, California -- as stated on label! This fine pair is in excellent original vintage condition with no damage or defects whatsoever other than what is described in the following. These rare MAX versions and have been together for at 60 years! The label reads, "DESIGNED BY CHARLES EAMES Herman Miller ZEELAND MICHIGAN SHIPPED FROM VENICE CALIFORNIA. In other words, I believe these were shipped from the Eames studio!
That being said, they are really quite comfortable. You'll notice right away that they sit much lower to the floor than other shell chairs. These would be a GREAT addition to any Eames collection and I will ship ANYWHERE!
SIZE MAX Medium Armshell X (four leg base) 27 1/2" H by 24 7/8" W by 24" D Seat height 15 3/4" Weight 14 lbs.
CONDITION: These rare "MAX" Venice, California production chairs are in fine condition and are made of really nice fiberglass throughout. (You can really see the heavy use of fiberglass throughout). The bases are very, heavy iron and set very low to the ground (the base is constructed with a slope). The fiberglass is rich and uniform as the pictures portray with no obvious stains, scratches, cracks or extreme wear aside from some slight surface wear in a few places). There are no edge/fiberglass chips/cracks anywhere. The early Herman Miller Venice, California decal is intact on one chair. The shock mounts are LARGE and all originally glued, strong and intact. Screws are not original vintage, but clean and fully functional. One boot/glide is missing, but can be easily replaced. These don't come up very often, as stated on the Herman Miller Office Resources website:

In fact, the only auction result that I was able to find was for a pair that artist Andy Warhol owned!
