This antique safe was made by Mosler and has the model number 18140 written on it. I am unsure as to the exact age of this.
The safe stands 35.5" high x 24" wide x 22" deep. The hinges stick out approximately 1 3/8" on this and the door is 6" thick. In regards to the weight, this is cast iron and as stated stands almost 3 ft high x 2 ft wide. It is HEAVY!!! It took four people to move it and we do not have any way to weigh this. The good thing about this is it is located at a warehouse that has a loading dock. It also has wheels.
The inside dimensions are 16" high x 10 /8" wide x 9.5" deep.
It appears that the inside of this was modified and the wood was replaced at some point in time as well as the red velvet material inside and on the corners.
The front has the initialsJ.B.C. painted on the door. There is a decorative gold painted design on the door and the sides and top havr gold painted bands as well. The front also has the U.S. seal of an eagle with arrows and vines painted in the corners. It appears that the gold was repainted though I do not think this was a professional job. The inside has the original paint but the outside was repainted.
The safe has the original cast iron wheels and they do roll.
The dial is a yale combination lock # 80421. We do have the cobination. The dial operates smoothly and locks and unlocks without any issues.
There are age appropriate signs of use and wear including scratches and dings.
There are areas where the paint is beginning to flake also. There is loose paint and light rust osn the underside by the wheels.
