CIVIL WAR Eb Berliner Valve Tuba circa 1850-1870s

You are bidding on an Eb Berliner Valve Tuba that is an exceptional Civil War period tuba from circa 1850 to 1870.  It is in exceptional playing condition.  This tuba has been cleaned by ultra sound.  All tuning slides have been cut and retro-fitted to play in well at A-445 for use in any Civil War Band that might be in need of a good tuba. I was told by the owner that all dents were taken out at one time and the Berliner valves on this tuba are tight and smooth.  Of course this is a very old/ antique instrument so it does show wear which gives it the character that all instruments made in that time period display.  The photos are very accurate. The operation is exceptional.  This tuba is very tight and has been gone through professionally.  This auction includes the original period mouthpiece, but it plays it’s best using a modern mouthpiece.  The individual that has been playing this tuba with a Civil War Band says it plays very well and is in tune.  The bell has a diameter of 10 ¼ inches.  The length is approximately 39 inches.  This instrument would make an excellent addition to any Civil War Band or a great addition to any Civil War collection!
