1942 DESCO MKV All Matching Serial Numbers
Low Serial Number 198
Here for your consideration is our December 20, 1942 DESCO Serial # 198 MKV diving helmet in original condition. She is without any alterations or modifications. She is missing the speaker (com) and the retaining chain in the rear which were missing when I acquired her years ago. Simple, inexpensive fixes if you wish to add them and available from DESCO. I was laid off from my job today (unexpected) and with unemployment, bills, Christmas and some health issues staring me in the face, my valued friend must go to a new tender. I am including the dive knife (BOMAR Corp) and the weighted dive boots (no makers marks) with this helmet as they belonged to the original/owner diver and I feel it only right to keep them together instead of selling separately. The helmet weight is just over 56 pounds. Everything is correct and matching for a helmet that was dove during the war years. This helmet came from Bremerton, WA over twenty years ago. The story that accompanied the helmet was that it was used on the "Mighty Mo" (U.S.S Missouri) during WWII throughout the Pacific which might actually hold salt as the "Mighty Mo" was decommissioned in 1955 and mothballed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard at Bremerton. In 1986, the USS Missouri was recommissioned after undergoing an extensive modernization and refurbishment to join the ranks of the "Nuke Class" vessels. The helmet was lightly polished a couple years ago and subsequently lost the paint on the tag. I personally feel it was a good idea to polish her. If she were still used by the Navy and on active duty, she would be standing tall which led me to that conclusion. This particular helmet can be seen at the wonderful diving heritage site http://www.divingheritage.com/descokern.htm As you scroll down, our helmet is the first helmet you come to on that page and she can be seen before the polish. Should you have any questions, PLEASE don't hesitate to ask. We have been eBay members since 1998 and though it doesn't reflect it in my selling percentage, if you take the time to scroll through my history, I have made over twenty sales and all were satisfactory. It was prior to the new system. We are the same folks with the same values. Lastly, shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will ONLY charge what the shipper charges me and for any materials used in the construction of a container. If you are verified, I can accept local pickup which could save considerably for the buyer. I expect the buyer to have this paid for within seven (7) days of the auctions end or please do not bid. We are in a bad state because of my loss of employment so please understand this is very serious to us or I honestly would not even have considered selling this nice collection of Diving History. Lastly, I prefer to be paid with a Cashiers Check or Bank Draft to avoid fees with certain other payment methods. Every bit helps at this point. If the buyer wishes to use an Escrow Service, I am totally open to that as long as the buyer assumes all costs. THANK YOU for looking and again, ANY questions will gladly and promptly be answered.

I must state that if you hold a feedback rating of 0, negative 0 or you have any failure to pay on your previous transactions, I WILL CANCEL YOUR BIDS unless you contact me prior to bidding. Again, I WILL CANCEL ANY BIDS YOU PLACE unless you contact me first. I don't mean to come off as a knot head, but I don't need flakes bidding on my auctions. Thank you for your understanding as I am sure this only applies to a very small percentage here on eBay.
