You are bidding on a FINE Complete Set of Johnson Brothers “The Friendly Village” Made in England.
All pieces are in excellent used condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, stains or crazing,
the colors are bright with no fading. All pieces are as perfect as the day they were made!
In fact I would say the set has hardly been used, I know it has been stored safely away for many years!
Each plate, saucer and bowl has the black back mark with “The Friendly Village” on a mail-box along with the Pattern name and “Made in England by Johnson Bros.”
and “A Genuine Hand Engraving” each piece also has a red artists mark.
The Cups are imprinted on the bottom “Made in England”
Each 6 Piece Place Setting includes:
1 Dinner plate, 1 Square Salad plate, 1 Bread and Butter plate,
1 Berry bowl, 1 Teacup and 1 Saucer
All together there are:
8 x “The School House” Dinner Plates, 10" in diameter.
8 x “The Covered Bridge” Square Salad Plates, 8" in diameter.
8 x “Sugar Maples” Bread & Butter/Dessert Plates, 6” in diameter.
8 x “The Stone Wall” Berry/Fruit Bowls, 5" in diameter.
8 x “The Ice House” Cups.
8 x “The Ice House” Sauces.
Johnson Bros. of England introduced the Friendly Village pattern in 1952. I believe that this black back stamp was used on the earlier pieces. This is an original English set; it was NOT made in China!
It’s unique and traditional look recreates a "Friendly Village" at home that warms your table or hutch with traditional charm. Each piece of the set depicts a different warm and welcoming scene.
Johnson Brothers had over a 100 years of experience in producing dinnerware and was known for its rich English heritage and high quality.
