ANTIQUE FRENCH BRONZE BOUDOIR CLOCK, PORCELAIN FLOWERS

One of the most charming antique clocks we've had in ages, this one is scaled down for desktop or tabletop, bedside, and has a fabulous enameled face decorated with garlands of flowers, and marked 'OVINGTON' which tells us it was an item contracted and marketed through the famed NYC shop, Ovingtons, an icon of late 1800s to earliest 1900s finery for home and table. For more about Ovington's, you might wish to search via Google, but we'll simply say that items bearing that distributor's mark were considered the finest - on par with Tiffany & Co goods. The clockworks within are French made, noted 'Made in France', and jeweled. I do not have a key at listing time, and can assume the clock is working but can't guarantee it. We'll locate a key and add to the listing in confirmation, so watch for a notation later in the week, please. There are some fantasy marks on back of the figure, similar to those crossed swords of Meissen, but we do not think the figure is Meissen and caution you to not wonder if it is.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. The figure is in fine condition as are most of the old porcelain flowers, though it's typical to find a nip to petal here or there. The leaves on the basket of grapes at the feet of the figure do have some losses, easily seen in our images. A superb decorative piece - I have it on my mantel right now, along with that fabulous DERBY jardiniere we also are listing tonight, and which is pictured there in our final group/ambiance phtoto. Both pieces are fabulous, don't you agree?
