Here is a most rare Art Deco Antique motion lamp...

from My Personal Collection

vintage 1931

Mount Fuji

in the Moonlight

as seen from Lake Kawaguchi, Japan

 Model #42

Made by: Scene-In-Action Corp. Chicago, USA (1925-1936)

This motion lamp is featured on page 22 in the Collectors Guide of Motion Lamps, By" Sam and Anna Samuelian

This exquisite Art Deco silver framed  Motion Lamp from aproximately 1930 features a stunning evening scene of a lake view of Mount Fuji, Japan! There silouetted trees that romantically frame the moon, and the colors are extraordinary.

When turned on, this lamp begins moving, making the water appear to glisten and ripple  before you as the moon glows with  beams of light reflecting on the lake surface which seem to be flowing towards you..  It is absolutley a treasure, and one you will want to hold on to and pass down from generation to generation..

This lamp is picture framed and measures 11 inches tall by 14 inches wide and aproximately 6 inches deep. It is a wonderful size for mantle, shelf or executive desk.. It is very impressive!

The Art Deco Styling is also fabulous!

The lamp is in  excellent condition for it's age, containing all it's original parts.  Front panel picture is in wonderful condition with bright intense colors, the best example of this lamp I have ever seen.  Spinner is in very good condition with original bearing. It spins great from heat of low watt clear bulb. Frame is excellent as well. Rear brass housing looks very good and also has original top! The cord and plug show a great deal of wear, and I would definitely replace for safety right away, but as lamp is 100% original I will leave it as it is, it does work though! This lamp contains two glass panels, one with picture and one with paint in pattern to create motion effects. BOTH panels look excellent and solid.  Paint is like new.

THIS LAMP IS IN THE BEST CONDITION I HAVE EVER SEEN, I RATE IT Near MINT (except for cord)

For a lamp that is about 80 years old, it looks Fabulous!! and the frame is clean and shows beautifully!

The colors are lovely, and the art looks very impressive whether on or off..

If you want a true antique art deco peice of art that is also living art, this fine rare picture will be the best conversation piece you own! Everyone will comment on it when they see it, and will be amazed to see your antique print come alive when it is on and in action!

Please ask any questions you may have affecting your desire to own this fine lamp before you bid. I welcome all comments as well.

This lamp is estimated to sell at LIVE ORAL AUCTION for $1200-$2500

On Nov-19-08 at 09:45:31 PST, seller added the following information:

We have added two pictures which we believe may have been the inspiration used by the artists who designed this lamp of Mt Fuji from the Lake Kawaguchi, the first is an artist print from the late 1920's pre war, published by Watanabe Shozaburo. The second is a rare painting by Ando Hiroshige created in the late 1800's.

Nov 19, NOTE : Due to repeated offers to buy early, and questions regarding why the buy-now has disappeared, please note that  the BUY-NOW Price goes away after first bid in a No Reserve auction format. We will consider ending the auction early only for offers that exceed $1000 AND you must be high bidder as well. This is in accordance with eBay rules and regulations concerning ending auctions early. You MUST be high bidder for us to sell to you early, but price can be whatever we negotiate. So if you want to buy-now, become high bidder, then send us your high bid.  We will answer promptly. Otherwise, this auction will continue through to end as scheduled.
