OFFERING: This is a 100% all original parts vintage 1st production Zenith Rocking Armchair RAR
designed by the great Charles Eames, manufactured by
Zenith Plastics, Gardena, California in 1950 and distributed by Herman
Miller, Zeeland, Michigan as stated on label. Every piece of this fine
chair is in extraordinary MINTY vintage condition with no damage or
defects whatsoever!
CONDITION:
The
rare first production shell is in minty condition and is a deep charcoal gray
in color referred to as "ELEPHANT HIDE", it has very opaque
pigmenting throughout
with great swirly fiber evident everywhere. The original gel coat is very glossy and there are no chips, scratches,
cracks or obvious wear, absolutely gorgeous and super clean.
The clearly visible rope edge runs the entire edge of the chair, this
rare detail is found only in the very first years of production. The
early checkerboard label decal is fully intact with some minor flaking, all
authenticating Herman Miller markings are present. The Zinc coated wire strut base is in perfect original vintage condition and
shows virtually no signs of wear - no
chips, breaks, rust, bends or rewelds. The original birch runners are
in pristine condition with very light finish weathering and the typical subtle
bottom wear with no gouges, cracks or breaks.
The shock mounts are
strong and supple and appear perfect as if they were new. I could go on but the pictures tell a better story...you would be challenged to find a finer specimen than this well preserved rocker!
TERMS: Item is used and vintage as described and is being sold as-is with all sales final - please ask questions
before bidding and please don't bid if you do not intend to follow through with integrity. Any bidder with less than 5 positive feedbacks must
contact me before placing a bid to verify your intention, if you do not do so I reserve the right to cancel and block your bid.
SHIPPING*: Chair will be shipped with the shell and base disassembled to conform
to shipping limitations, reassembly is simply with the original 4
phillips head screws as shown in the photos of the chair bottom. Item
will ship domestically for a fee of $60, International shipping will
run $110 to the designated countries, insurance costs for either will
be additional and is required even though the chair is very durable and
will be packaged with great consideration. Recent
International shipping regulation changes have put certain insurance
value limits that vary from country to country of which I can not amend
or be liable for. All
International bidders must also bear in mind and be responsible for the
customs regulations of their respective country since I have no way of
doing that on my end, I will not falsify declaration documents to avoid duties.
*I
have repeatedly shipped similar chairs all over the world without
incident so rest assured what you see here is what you will receive
intact.
PAYMENT: must be made within 5 days of auction ending. Will ship Internationally and domestically to buyers paying by PAYPAL ONLY and you
must be a VERIFIED buyer. I do not take returns unless the item delivered is clearly not as represented in these pictures and all sales
are final. Thanks for reading all of this and good luck.
