Beautiful Antique Biedermeier Game Box Bezique Small Boxes & Chips c.1840

Wikipedia says: Bezique is a 19th-century French melding and trick-taking card game for two players derived from Marriage via Briscan by the addition of more scoring features, notably the peculiar liaison of Q♠ and J♦, under the names Bésigue, Binokel, Pinochle, etc., according to the country.

This auction is for this beautiful Biedermeier box that is inlaid and constructed with several kinds of different woods and colors. This is all hand made and in beautiful condition. The inside has three also handmade inlaid boxes with bone (stag) chips in different colors. The fourth box has been replaced but still holds the bone chips. It also has two Bezique panels in different colors of woods. This is a fantastic and unusual item. The box measures 13.5" long, 8.5" wide and 4.25" high. The inside small boxes measure 3.5" long, 2 and 3/4" wide, and 1 and 1/3rd inches high and they are filled with bone chips. The Bezique panels are 4.5" by 2.5". This is a unique item that still has the contents which is rare. It also has a decorated keyhole but no key. The box is in fantastic condition.
