Cartographer
Petrus Bertius (1565 -1629) was a Flemish cartographer. Besides his geographical work, Bertius also published numerous scientific writings on mathematics, history and theology. In 1618 he moved to Paris where he became geographer and historiographer of Louis XIII of France.

Description
This is an original, decoratively coloured copper engraved map by Bertius.
The present map shows the North Pole / Arctic, Geenland and parts of the continents North America, Europe and Asia. The map is richly decorated with nice illustrations of animals.

Petrus Bertius (1565 -1629) war ein flämischer Kartograph. Neben seinem geographischen Werk verfasste Bertius auch zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Schriften über mathematische, historische und theologische Themen. 1618 zog er nach Paris und wurde Geograph und Historiograph König Ludwigs XIII. von Frankreich.

Dies ist eine originale, sehr schön kolorierte Kupferstich Karte von Petrus Bertius.
Die Karte zeigt den Nordpol / die Arktis und Teile der Kontinente Nordamerika, Grönland, Europa und Asien. Die Karte ist reich verziert mit schönen Tier-Illustrationen.
