Mid Century Sectional Sofa,
looks very good
Location: Marion, South Carolina,
(between Florence and Myrtle Beach)
....When I was a kid, Grandma rode herd on us to keep our feet off the couch!, don't eat in the living room!, and just plain stay out of Grandpa's den. And, approximately 52 years later, here is the benefit of all those rules -- you would be hard put to find an original late 50's sofa that is as nice as this one.
...ISunlight has never hit it, so there is no fading. The foam cushions are still resiliant and comfortable. Its original fabric is that heavy, nubby, boucle with silver threads through it so popular in the 50's and early 1960's. (Lamplight really catches the silver at night, and it sparkles - very cool)
...IIt's low to the ground, in the "high style" of those years, and sits on 4 inch, blond-wood feet with brass ends. There is a black, thin, netting type material all underneath that looks much too new to be the original, so I imagine it was replaced at some point when the piece was cleaned.

There is a diagram with specific dimensions at the end of the photos below
I did the best I could with the pictures below; the small one above is closest to the color - some look more "pink" than in reality. I have picked a background color for this page which is closest to the correct color (do keep in mind your monitor settings may affect how you see colors)
The cushions of each of the left and right sides are exactly the same, and can be switched back and forth. (handy so you don't always create wear on the same spot.) One side of the cushions show more use than the other, but even that is slight - Grandma kept the "best side" down for protection. There is a small fray on the right side arm, shown in a closup in the last photo, and a small, quarter inch hole in the face of one cushion. (you can just keep that side down, and the perfect side up) In my opinion neither flaws are important, but mentioned for clarity.
I could not find any store or manufacturers tags, but am fairly sure it was bought at Barker Brothers Furniture in Los Angeles, CA. before 1960.
No weird smells, no pet hair, no smoking, no marks, no cooties -- just 50+ years of good karma.
