This is a superb
MODEL SAILING BOAT
or
POND YACHT
made by the
AILSA
company of
SCOTLAND
In my estimation it dates from around the mid 20th Century, circa 1950, but please make up your own mind about this.
The yacht measures approx 17 1/2 inches ( 450mm) long and 23 inches ( 590mm)tall.
It has a painted metal (aluminium) hull with a lead weighted metal keel, and a varnished wooden deck .
The masts and spars are made of wood and the sails are cotton.
These are sound, with no holes or tears.
As can be seen from the photos the paint is the original, and has a few very minor scuffs here and there.
The model bears the makers nameplate on the deck, which reads
AILSA YACHT
A "MILBRO" PRODUCT
MADE IN SCOTLAND.
This is a great vintage model yacht.
It would make a fine display piece or be suitable to sail, and would be a great addition to any collection.
