This is a superb
MODEL SAILING BOAT
or
POND YACHT
made by the
STAR YACHT
company of
BIRKENHEAD
ENGLAND
In my estimation it dates from around the mid 20th Century, circa 1950, but please make up your own mind about this.
The yacht measures approx 20 1/2 inches ( 520mm) long and 25 inches ( 650mm)tall.
It has a painted wooden hull with a metal keel, and lined wooden decks .
Steering is by a metal rudder, operated by a tiller on deck.
The masts and spars are made of wood with brass fittings, and the sails are cotton and are free from tears or repairs, but are a little stained with age.
They bear the
STAR
motif along with the model number
MK 4.
As can be seen from the photos the paint is in pretty good order, with only a few minor scuffs here and there, and the model bears the name
ENDEAVOUR IV
on the bows and has the makers transfer on the deck, which states that the model is guaranteed to sail.
This is a great vintage model star yacht in nice condition.
It would make a fine display piece or be suitable to sail, and would be a great addition to any collection.
