1857 Chromolithograph "Prairie of the Antelope"
This is one of four very well-known and highly desirable lithographs from William Emory’s "Report of the United States and Mexican Boundary Survey..." (Washington, Cornelius Wendel, Printer; HR Ex Doc #135, 34th Congress, 1st Session). 6 x 9 inches (15 x 23 cm) on a larger sheet. Overall VG+.
I could not find a ready reference in the Emory text for the exact location of this view, but it is eioher in west Texas or --more likely--New Mexico. Incredibly detailed botanicals in the foreground while mounains show themselve in the distance across a large and un-vegetated valley (or I suppose, more accurately, a prairie). Attractive view.
