Description

This is a wonderful heavy tin workbox with a fitted interior, original paint, and original key.  There is an upper tray as well as a small notions box with ring handle and tab closure.  The box rests on four bun feet. The key works just fine.  The exterior paint is in good condition with some wear to the black around the outside edges of the top, and a small gouge of missing paint more toward the middle.  The mustard colored interior is very good with just a a few small areas of wear and chipping - to be expected and not very detrimental at all.  There is an old red "SOLD" sticker glued on the bottom which I have never tried to remove because I thought it added to the charm of this piece.  The notions box has a handpainted border of cornflower blue flowers and brown tendrils around the lid.  It did have a tiny bit of grime which rubbed off (it still shows in the pics), and it does have one tiny dot of rust.  Judging from the key and lock mechanism,  I think this is from the late Victorian timeframe.  Overall dimensions are 5"X6 3/4"X10".  If you collect old workboxes, this is a wonderful example.  Domestic Priority shipping is free.  Insurance is optional and highly recommended.
