I was lucky enough to acquire a fresh collection of military artifacts from the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. I will be listing much of that grouping this week so please check my other listings for additional parts of that collection.
This is a Rev. War period iron pike head that was dug in the Annapolis, MD area. There is a nearly identical pike pictured on page 191 & 192 of Weapons of the American Revolution and Accoutrements by Warren Moore. I have scanned that page and included it here for your convenience.
The pike measures 12-1/2" long, 2" across at the widest part of the blade and 3/4" at the opening. Due to its crude manufacturing I am assuming it is American-made.
I am using some of the descriptions that came with the collection and my knowledge of Revolutionary War period artifacts is limited so look closely at the scans and send me any questions you may have.
