I was lucky enough to acquire a fresh collection of military artifacts from the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. I will be listing much of that grouping this week so please check my other listings for additional parts of that collection.
This is a Rev War period hand forged, hand fashioned iron pike or pole arm head. There are similar pike heads pictured on page 191 &192 of Weapons of the American Revolution and Accoutrements by Warren Moore. I have scanned that page and included it here for your convenience.
Due to its crude manufacturing I am assuming it was American made. There is a bit of storage surface rust but it should clean up nicely. The pole head measures 7" long, 1-1/2" at the widest part of the blade and 7/8" across the hole.
I am using some of the descriptions that came with the collection and my knowledge of Revolutionary War period artifacts is limited so look closely at the scans and send me any questions you may have.
