A beautiful little bottle covered with the tartan of the Lorne clan, printed on paper. Inside are a needle case, a double yarn reel and a silver thimble. One half of the bottle has the name of the clan printed in gold on a black rectangular, the other half has a golden dot, so you always know how to put the two halves together, so that the pattern continues. The seams of the paper are covered by black paint with wavy gold lines.
The size of this tartan ware bottle is 2 7/8" high, 1 1/6" wide. It is in very good condition, as are the sewing tools inside. The wooden needle case has its small lid; the yarn reel has all its white and black cotton yarn. There are a few chips and dents to the paper of the top; that's all. The silver thimble has a border decorated with stripes and dots in black. It was made by the Lotthammer-Eber company from Pforzheim, Germany. It has their mark, the six pointed star, on the top. Exactly this thimble is shown in a catalogue by Lotthamer-Eber that is depicted in Thimble Collector's Encyclopedia by John J. von Hoelle, page 159. The thimble is 13/16" high, 5/8" wide and it is in excellent condition.
This bottle is offered to you without a reserve as are all tartan ware items I have for auction today.
