50pc GORHAM STRASBOURG STERLING SILVER FLATWARE SET
Presented is a fine sterling silver flatware set made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The set is done in the Strasbourg pattern which was first produced in 1897. The knives, the forks, the salad forks, the grapefruit spoons, the iced tea spoons, the cake or pie server, and one of the place spoons are monogrammed with a K in an elegant script. Five of the place spoons are monogrammed N.F. Six teaspoons are monogrammed with an R in Gothic script. The other six teaspoons and the oyster fork have never been monogrammed. The knives and the cake or pie server have sterling silver handles and stainless steel blades. All the other pieces are solid sterling.

- 6 forks: 7 inches
- 6 salad or dessert forks: 6 3/8 inches
- 12 teaspoons: 5 5/8 inches
- 6 grapefruit or citrus spoons: 5 5/8 inches
- 6 place, dessert, or oval soup spoons: 6 3/4 inches
- 6 iced tea spoons: 7 5/8 inches
- 1 oyster fork: 5 5/8 inches
- 1 cake or pie server: 9 3/4 inches
The knives and the cake or pie server are marked Stainless on the blades and Sterling Handle on the handles. Some of the solid silver pieces are hallmarked with Gorham’s old company hallmarks, Sterling, and Pat. 1897. The rest of the pieces are stamped Gorham Sterling.
The condition is excellent. A couple of the knives have dings on the handles, but this is minor. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The weight of the solid sterling silver pieces is 1734.5 grams or 60.8 ounces.
This set comes with an optional, free, bonus box as seen in the photographs. The box is a felt lined wooden box. The box has surface wear but is effective in protecting the set against tarnishing. This box is free, and is not considered to be part of the value of this auction. If you do not want the box let us know and we do not need to ship it.
