Currency and Finance. Speech of Hon. Henry W. Blair, of New Hampshire in the House of Representatives, Thursday, May 18, 1876. 16 pages numbered. Disbound and all pages loose but present. Some edge tears with light toning. A fine document. One of the excerpts is: "Forced Liquidation of the Banks. The liquidation of the banks involves the collection of all their loans, amounting now to more than $1,000,000,000 (1 billion dollars); and there is not a business man in the country who does not know that this process, arbitrarily enforced involves the sacrifice of his property, pledged as collateral security, for a song, and general bankruptcy, by which enourmous masses of propert would fall into the hands of the banks..." SOUND FAMILIAR??? A great item. Calixbooks
