Beautiful, working, 1930's Truetone bakelite radio. This set dates to 1938. Excellent luster, a gorgeous, marbled dark chocholate brown bakelite, subtly swirled in lighter and darker shades. No chips in the cabinet, photo shows reflections of the backdrop blanket, me, the dial, knobs, and my camera, there is no marring. There are two stressline/fissures, in the front face that don't go through the thickness of the material. Great deco styling, accented beautifully by the waterfall dial which glows beautifully when the set is on- a shadow line is cast from within, to show what frequency you are tuned to.. Impeccibly clean, inside and out, it will pass the white glove test- a final detail cleaning is accomplished with Q-tips. Unit has the original knobs, lever tips/buttons, and dial lens. The cardboard back is a reproduction. Plays loudly, clearly with good tone, no hum. The set features pusbutton/lever tuning, so you can zip to your favorite stations- just like the old car radios. They work quietly and smoothly and can be set easily. Above the levers is a small window, which I can fill with an original, period station call letter paper tab to your choosing (tell me the town you live in and we'll choose some stations). Has good, safe, power cord and working dial light. The radio measures 10 inches long, 7 1/2 high, 6 1/2 deep. As with all my radios, the luster and sheen on the bakelite is natural, exhibiting the original characteristics of the bakelite when newly made....no coatings (permanent or temporary), sprays, or oils are used to glam it up. All radios sold have had preventative electrical maintainence, so that they perform as well in the foreseeable future...as they do when you first get them. I stand behind the components I've repaired, parts and labor- for 90 days. After that- free labor for 6 months. Why would you bother with someone who says they've "restored" the radio and then tell you you are buying "as is"- and why would someone's warrantee be worth anything if you can't find them again on ebay? The insides of my radios are given the same attention as the outsides.
