The exotism of this flower is enough to tell us that we are in the early century – the era of international expositions. Industry & new world mixture. This tile was designed to form large panels with tail & flowers right & left. But in many cases flowers are found alone. It is a magnificent exercise of planes forming the figure and the backround by a great claro oscuro contrast - Lines that flow from one figure to another – the image is the one of an exotic forest. REF: 20th Century Decorative British Tiles page 371
