I have a very interesting safe for sale. This safe was in a bank in upstate New York since around 1902. The bank closed in 2004 and the city bought the property, safe included. They later moved the safe to the town's historical museum. I purchased the safe from the town's historical society in 2008 and transported here to Melbourne. It has been in my garage ever since.

I started to strip the paint from the safe in order to find out who made it. I did not uncover a name, but i did uncover a handpainted pinstripe detail on one side. I later determined that the safe was most likely mad by the Cary Safe Co. in Buffalo, NY. Which was very close to the town where the safe was installed back in 1902. I believe this to be a custom made safe, special ordered by the Citizen's National Bank of Springville, NY. I have never seen or heard of another safe like it. Cary Safe Co. is widely known as a premier safe maker in the early 1900's.

Two of the compartments still lock with combinations. Two of them do not. The two that lock were updated by the bank when it changed hands in the 1930's, the other two were disabled by removing the internal lock parts.

This Safe is EXTREMELY stout. Unlike most budget safes that have 1/8" to 1/4" steel exteriors. This safe is a SOLID 1" exterior with 1" solid steel between the four separate compartments.

It weighs around 4,000 lbs. That's right. 2 TONS. Not kidding. At my price, that's only 50 cents a pound :]

You can pick it up at my house in Melbourne, or I can deliver to you within 200-300 miles for a fee.
