This is a superb

ANTIQUE MICROSCOPE

In my estimation it dates from around the late 19th Century, circa 1880, but please make up your own mind about this.

The microscope measures approx 11 inches ( 270mm) tall extended, and 9 1/2 inches ( 240mm) closed, and is made from lacquered brass with a lacquered iron foot.

It is in good original condition and comes complete with its original fitted mahogany case .

The instrument has rack and pinion focusing which operates smoothly, and has an adjustable magnifying glass attached to the body tube. This is for use when working with slides on the stage.

The instrument is fitted with three different powered object lenses.

These can be used individualy, or screwed together to provide varying levels of magnification.

The stage has a spring type slide clip, and illumination from beneath provided by an adjustable mirror.

The whole instrument can be set at different angles for ease of working, by means of a lockable universal joint on the base.

The lacquer is in good original condition ( see photos).

This is an interesting Victorian microscope.

It would make a fine display piece and would be a great addition to any collection.

Please see the photos for condition and type

( Please note old repair to end of box)
