I have never seen this O. P. Co., Syracuse China, Old Ivory pattern before.
Nor could I find it at replacements.com, so I assume it is rare.
It is entitled "FLANDERS FIELDS".
This heavy thick plate/platter is 10 1/2" in diameter,
and the design was hand-colored at the factory by an unsigned artist.
At first glance, this uncatagorized floral motif may look like a Southern or Western
Railroad China design, but the "Flanders" location is actually European.
The "Flanders Fields" term was first made popular in a famous WWI poem:
"IN FLANDERS FIELDS" by Lt. Col. John McCrae.
My guess is that this is just a rare or one-of-a-kind experimental design
that never got approved for mass production.
A lot of Syracuse China workers brought home such experimental patterns.
I live in Syracuse, and see them once in awhile at garage and estate sales.
I was totally awestruck when I saw this plate with its bold black and green border,
It is among the most beautiful china floral designs I have ever seen.
It has NO cracks or chips, and only very few shallow stacking scratches.
It is truly in NEAR MINT to MINT CONDITION.
