CHARLOTTE PERRIAND
A rare variation of the Low Stool
Steph Simon
France, 1950s

An extraordinary example of Perriand's most famous design, the Low Stool. What distinguishes this stool from other Perriand stools, is the extra large and embellished spline joint. This style of joint is typically reserved for Perriand's Forme Libre tables, and of works executed by master woodworker Andre Chetaille.

Wood species is a nicely pronounced rustic ash with small knots and areas of radial grain. Minimal wear. Displays impressively. A rare variation of a design masterpiece, from one of the greatest figures of the 20th Century.

Approximately 10 H x 12.25 W.

Special thanks to Galerie Patrick Seguin for their assistance with this lot.

LITERATURE: Similar examples illustrated in situ: Charlotte Perriand, An Art of Living, McLeod, pg.192

Before bidding, please read the full condition report, shipping, and payment terms provided at the end of this listing.

Shipping:

Previously we had teamed up with the UPS Store for packing and arranging shipping. Many potential bidders have indicated they found the UPS Store's service fees and packing charges to be too expensive, discouraging them from bidding. So this year, we have decided to undertake the packing and shipping of all the items ourselves, in-house.

Your patience is appreciated, as we are just a 2-person team. Packing and organizing worldwide shipping for all 115 items in this sale will take some time, particularly large furniture that requires wood crating and special freight coordination. Wood crates will still be built by a third-party woodcrafter, but we will be packing and handling the crates ourselves.

Pick-up is welcome and appreciated. Clients wishing to arrange their own shipping are also welcome and appreciated.

A) Concerning shipping estimates during the auction:

Shipping estimates provided during the auction are estimates only (i.e. "ballpark" figures). The actual packed weight and dimensions are not known until the item is packed.
