Resistance Coupled. No Transformers
This is a vintage Three Tube Amplifier from the 1920’s. This unit features RC coupling to eliminate the frequency limitations associated with transformer coupling. This allows its use as an amplifier for Scanning Disk Radio / TV receivers. The output of this amplifier can be used to drive the scanning lamp directly. Although originally used with Scanning Disk TV, this unit can also be used as an audio amplifier. Terminals for input, output, and power, are clearly marked.
The chassis is a thick engraved gloss black Bakelite panel. Chrome plated tube sockets accept UV or UX bayonette base, four pin tubes. This will accept standard 201A style tubes. The grid bias and plate resistors are cartridge style mounted in clips on top. The coupling condensers are located underneath.
Some photos show tubes installed. The tubes are not included in this auction. I can provide tested good 201A tube for an additional charge if requested.
Size is 10”L x 3 ½”W x 2 ½”H
There are no chips or cracks in the Bakelite panel. One thumbscrew terminal is very slightly chipped. (see close up photo) This unit is all original and shows little or no signs of use. I have not attempted to apply power and check operation.
This is a piece of early radio (and TV) history. It displays very well and no doubt by adding tubes and power, can be made to work.
I make every attempt to describe items completely and accurately, and to show any flaws clearly in the photographs. Questions are invited and will be answered promptly.
