This auction is for a truly lovely and rare antique French Victorian era silk damask ribbon in a most unique shade of very pale silvery green with a slight blue tinge to it with a magical and ethereal quality (this is NOT BLUE; I am just stating that it is a tinge, in my opinion. It is semi-sheer and is paper thin, but with a lot of crispness to it. It appears that this has never been used and just stored away. Any flaws are most likely due to storage and age. I cannot express the beauty of this ribbon; it is absolutely stunning and so unusual from regular ribbons that one may see. I would like to note that this has no tears, rips or stains, age marks, however, I have detected the slightest, tiniest tears at the very edges at the 7" mark and again, at the 14.5" mark on either side, however, I believe this is due to where it was folded. This in no way detracts from its use for one's project and is hardly noticeable. However, I must stress that due to its delicacy and age, that one not tug or pull any further. This should be handled very gently. This would be most appropriate for doll clothing in particular in which one is using for a project that is for display purposes. It would not be appropriate for something that needs to withstand normal wear-and-tear. This exquisite textile measures approximately 29" x 2". It also has sweet, notched edging on either side, its center with a fine, taffeta-like watermark with smooth silk finish of floral and leaf patterns as well as on edging.
