Description: This quarter sawn oak record playing machine was made by Columbia and is called a Grafonola. They are Columbia's version of the Victrola. Unlike the Victrola, however, they were designed to play 78 rpm records, which are readily available at any flea market, numerous auctions and many websites. I do have one great record that comes with it!! It has "Pretend" by Bud Roman and The Ray Baxter Orchestra on one side and "Your Cheatin' Heart" by Mimi Martel with the Ray Baxter Orchestra on the other! Great nostalgia going on there!! Notice the deeply moulded lid, which lifts up to reveal its original stenciled label underneath. The player retains all its nickel-plated hardware. It has one small dish to hold needles, etc. (2 small dishes are missing) I do have extra needles that will be included. There is a slow/fast knob, which allows the operator to adjust the speed of the turntable for best sound. The needle arm is designed to be manually set on the record to start and lift off when completed-so high tech! Notice the crank handle on the side. When fully wound, the Grafonola will play at least one full record till completion. In addition, there is a knob on the right side in which you turn to open the 2 wooden slats in the front of the case. This is how you adjust the volume control! The finish is original and in excellent condition. The sound quality is excellent! Gotta love those pops and cracks from back in the day! You must hear and see it!
