Tamaya Precision Marine Sextant with 4x40 coated tamaya scope.... also has another longer skinny scope in the box. This is used and i think it's an older model, I have had it for about 6 years (just sitting in my office) i don't know anything about it, it was given to me when someone was cleaning out an old garage. The wooden box (with sextant inside) weights about 10 pounds and has dimensions of 11in. x11in. x6.25in. None of the mirrors or lenses appear to have any scratches or cracks in them. I don't know how to use it, so i don't know if everything is in working order, all parts seem to move about freely, so i assume everything is fine. Sale is "as is" since i don't know anything about it... feel free to email with questions and i will do my best to find out the answers (there is a local marine shop about 30min away-if you are really interested, i can take it in and have it looked at- that's assuming someone there will know about it)
On Nov-21-08 at 15:52:43 PST, seller added the following information:at the request of a potential bidder i have recently (today, friday) taken the sextant into a marine shop to have it looked at. this is what i have found out and have since reported to the bidder.
Just got back from the marine shop (actually went to 2), and the good news is that i was told that the sextant is in 100% working order. he said there were no signs of it ever being dropped or damaged, that all the glass and mirrors (and filters) looked to be in very good condition, all moving parts were very smooth and tight, Frame was very straight, as it should be. He said it was a very complete and a very nice piece. there was no salt corrosion visible, a few minor paint chips (purely cosmetic and hardly noticable), and the fact that it fits so snuggly into it's box has probably kept it in such nice shape. Overall he thought it was a very well cared for and quality piece. Hope this helps with your questions. thanks for your interest
