This functional and beautiful little balance beam style weight scale is wonderful in so many ways. It is the historic design that we all think of when thinking of the old style grocer weighing foodstuff or the physician weighing medicines. It is also the symbolic scale we think of when we think of Lady Justice with her scales or the type of scale used to weigh the worth of souls in the afterlife; a symbolism which corresponds with the metaphor of matters being "weighed up" or "held in the balance". It is also the symbol of the astrological sign, Libra, which takes place during the zenith, or balance, of the year, when the harvests are in and people are measuring their bounties.

Made of solid brass, this small scale measures just six inches in total height. It comes with 4 weights: one measuring 0.5 metric gram, up to 5 metric grams. The upright screws into a solid hardwood base that also stores the weights. Each weighing pan/basin measures appx 3 across. Please note that this item is hand-crafted, please expect some variation and slight irregularities. These are not defects but show the uniqueness of your item.
