c1880s C.F.HAVILAND & GDM H/P PORCELAIN BUTTER PAT DISH

For Your Consideration, One ( 1 ) Antique, Victorian Hand-painted Inner-Ribbed & Scalloped with Gold-Gilt edge with later Antique Gold-paint touch-up, Individual Porcelain Butter Pat Plate.  Manufactured by Charles Field Haviland ( CFH ), Alluaud factory, Casseaux, Limoges, France - under the management of three men - Ge'rard, Dufraisseix & Morel ( GDM ) circa 1880's - 1900.

Charles Field Haviland was the nephew of David Haviland - the Original founder of the Haviland & Co., factory in Limoges, France.  Charles learned the craft of China manufacturing in Limoges and later married the granddaughter of one of the most famous Porcelain manufacturers in France - Francois Alluaud II.  His studio decorated White ware produced by Alluaud and exported them to one of his uncles in New York.

He subsequently reorganized the New York Haviland & Co., distribution factory; manufactured his own china and with the marked increase in demand eventually leased a Three ( 3 ) Kiln factory in Vierzon.  Management of the newly acquired Alluaud factory in Casseaux in 1876 was by a group of Three ( 3 ) men - Ge'rard, Dufraisseix & Morel, hence the Green under-glaze manufacturer's stamp of CFH/GDM.  Wares with this mark are considered to be some of the Finest pieces ever produced in the Casseaux factory.

Measurements:

Variation of Diameter between 3 to 3 - 1/16" due to Scalloped edge, 1/2" in Height and with a Base Diameter of 1 - 7/8", individual Porcelain Butter pat dish features delicately over-glaze painted Pink flowers, Green leaves & trailing vines.  Difficult to ascertain if painting is comprised of part-Transfer guide and part-over-glaze free-hand or all over-glaze free-hand without a Transfer guide.

Condition of Individual Porcelain Butter Pat Dish is Very-Good:  As aforementioned, Scalloped edge appears to have been over-painted with Gold at a later period - As seen via differing Lusters between Gold-Gilt and Gold-Paint; Some light Utensil marks; Light glaze spider-crack on Reverse surface within Base ring - does not transfer to Obverse surface though - Indicating glaze craze, not Ceramic body crack and Light wear to Clobbered paint, Otherwise no chips, cracks, hairlines, missing portions nor prior repairs noted.
