Today we are offering this Victorian art glass biscuit jar/barrel. The cased glass jar is a dep rose at the top getting lighter as it goes down the jar ending in a creamy green. If you look at the bottom it is a darker chartreuse green . It has beautiful enamel work of twigs, leaves and small flowers the design is the same on both sides (there is not a front or back). The pontil is visible on the bottom but very well ground. The handle is in unmarked Victorian silver plate. The lid is heavy, it looks as if someone thought it might be sterling and did the scratch test on top. NOTE: The color of this piece is very hard to describe because the bottom changes with different lighting.
The jar is 5 inches tall to the foot the foot is 3 3/4 inches across and 1/4 inch in height. Across the top is 4 inches. The handle is almost 6 inches. Please not all measurements are approximate.
