1930 CAST IRON "SITTING CAT" DOORSTOP DOOR STOP Made by CREATIONS COMPANY of Lancaster, Pennsylvania in GREAT CONDITION WITH ORIGINAL PAINT! Hubley contemporary in Lancaster, PA, CREATIONS COMPANY was only in business for one year, that being 1930. Where other more financially secure foundries like Hubley and National Foundry weathered the storm, the Great Depression forced Creations Company out of business just as they were getting started. For this reason, they made very few items and every one is a rare collectible! One of the hardest to find is this SITTING CAT #402 Full Figure Doorstop. Measuring 8 7/8", 6 1/4" wide and 4 ½" deep, this highly detailed Cat Doorstopper is pictured in John and Nancy Smith’s "The Doorstop Book" (see last photo). It is also pictured in Jeanne Bertoia’s "Doorstops". This cat is a two piece casting held together by a slot head screw. The original screw was bent and broken, so it has been replaced and the cat now fits tightly. It is in beautiful condition, with only very minor wear. The original black and white paint is still in good vintage condition, with some age crazing. There is still some green paint on the eyes.
